Join the Yo Soy DMA Volunteers

Yo Soy DMA is an independent multi-cultural community effort to support the Dallas Museum of Art.

Our goal is to cultivate community engagement and increase attendance to the DMA by promoting the artistic, cultural and historical significance of Mexican art with Mexico 1900 – 1950: Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Jose Clemente Orozco and the Avant-Garde, on view at the DMA from between March 12 to July 16, 2017.

The inclusive Yo Soy DMA campaign will bring together an unprecedented number of local, national and international returning museum goers and first-time DMA visitors by creating an atmosphere of community engagement like we’ve never seen before.

Please join us for an Yo Soy DMA orientation with DMA Director, Dr. Agustin Arteaga, highlighting the artwork of the coming exhibition, a guided tour of the DMA and break out sessions for each of the volunteer opportunity. Lunch will be provided.

There are many opportunities to get involved! Please select the one area would enjoy most so we can prepare materials for the orientation.

Community Outreach - create community excitement and awareness through presentations at the corporate level, grass roots community meetings, placing flyers at business storefronts and visiting churches and synagogues.

Volunteer Guide – this role is varied and is generally responsible for making the museum visit a positive one for all the guests. It encompasses helping to identify “first-time” visitors, helping guide all guests around the Museum, directing guests to facilities, helping guests with special needs, providing information about other current/future museum exhibitions and museum membership opportunities. Please note that in order to be scheduled as a volunteer guide, you must also complete a separate onsite training session prior to your volunteer shift at the museum, and familiarize yourself with guidelines and procedures as directed by DMA staff.

Ambassador Volunteers - This role will assist with welcoming visitors in the exhibition galleries, and be able to offer insights about the exhibition and key artworks on view. They may participate in gallery conversations as conversations arise. They will also help promote our online smartphone exhibition audio guide (available online through our site). Please note that in order to be scheduled as an Ambassador Volunteer, you are required to attend a separate onsite training prior to your first volunteer shift at the Museum and familiarize yourself with guideline and information about the exhibition.

Fundraising – reaching individuals and corporate contacts for sponsorship and financial support.
